APPEARANCE Doctor Finitevus appears an anthropomorphic echidna, about 3'7" in height and a stark white in color. His eyes are black, with yellow irises, and despite their appearance, are natural, not cybernetic. Black striping adorns Finitevus's head, and a yellow/black swirl, housed in a diamond shape, is on his forehead. On his chest are two black semi-circles, with a white stripe between them, similar to the mark on Knuckles the Echidna. He wears a black cape with white and black horizontal stripes on the inside, held together by a golden clasp with a crescent moon symbol on it. On his waist is a silver belt with the same symbol. Finitevus has no cybernetics. Instead, his hands and feet appear to be wrapped much like a mummy's, with his wrists and lower legs covered by golden rings resting on black coverings. He wears a pair of small, rounded spectacles, lightly tinted a bluish violet. | ||
PERSONALITY Doctor Finitevus is a mad genius, willing to do whatever is needed to accomplish a goal. He's not above lying to get his ways, at all, and he'll do it often, playing two or three or more sides at once against each other, as long as the end result is his wish. When the Doctor has a goal in mind, he focuses heavily on it, dismissing everything else as a minor concern at best. After all, it's what he has lackeys for. At times arrogant and proud, Finitevus possesses(despite his use of Chaos Hexes and powers of such a seeming supernatural nature) an intense hatred for superstition and religion, believing that logic and reason trumps faith and devotion. He has a special contempt for those who espouse religious beliefs, and he has no qualms about showing it, unless he is settling into a role to get what he wants, which he can do, expertly. | ||
ABILITIES, POWERS AND STRENGTHS Finitevus's greatest strength is his intellect. He is a genius, rivaled perhaps only by individuals like Doctor Robotnik and Mammoth Mogul, and possesses a patience with his intelligence that marks him as an extremely dangerous opponent. He is dubbed 'Technomage' for his Dark Legion title, and has earned that title by knowing all there is to know about the Legion's technology and science, even adapting it to his own purposes, innovating their technologies into new concepts. Finitevus, through his Chaos Siphon accident, has powers similar to Knuckles the Echidna as well. He has the enhanced strength and agility of all echidnas, and these are further increased by the powers he gained from Knuckles. He also can access something called the Chaos Force, and use its energy in numerous myriad ways. He can use it to create Warp Rings, and his Chaos Energy is black rather than green. He has used it to place people under his mental control, through using the energy on the Master Emerald. His last ability: The Warp Ring. An invention of his own, using the Chaos Energy he controls, the golden rings on his hands and feet can take him anywhere on the planet he wishes, and can control them with a thought. He can even activate them on the holders, allowing him to handle and manipulate objects a distance away. | ||
WEAKNESSES Finitevus's weaknesses are few, but pronounced. In a world of super-powered heroes, he is definitely a cut above even the above-average, but his strength is still nothing compared to Knuckles the Echidna or even Grandmaster Kragok, and he avoids such physical confrontation where he can. In a fight against an actual warrior, straight on, Finitevus is doomed to failure. Finitevus is proud and arrogant, and when he comes up with a plan, he is always convinced he's thought of everything until, unfortunately, it is too late, and his plan is undone. His habits and natural ability at lying and deceiving means that when he is undone, he loses any power he once had, as no one believes his words again. | ||
POSSESSIONS Finitevus's only major possessions are his Warp Rings, and they cover his arms and legs. He has at least 16 on his arms and legs, and more hidden in the voluminous cloak he wears. | ||
HISTORY Dr. Finitevus, before he was the technomage for the Dark Legion, was the top energy researcher in the Echidna city of Albion. During the time when Chaos Knuckles was held to be a threat by High Councilor Gala-Na of the city, Finitevus volunteered himself and his Chaos Siphon suit to draining the Guardian of his energies. However, the process was interrupted by Chaotix members Charmy and Saffron Bee, and Chaos Knuckles escaped while Finitevus was mutated from an ordinary, red-furred Echidna into his white-furred form. He became a negative version of Knuckles, powered by corrupted Chaos energy, and his transformation included a radical personality shift. Realizing the danger he posed to Albion, the people of the city attempted to eliminate him only to have him escape with his new inventions: the Warp Rings. Before he left, Finitevus managed to sabotage Albion's defenses, later leading an invasion of Albion with Doctor Eggman, wiping out its inhabitants and leaving it a ruined shell. Already planning his next move, Dr. Finitevus joined the Dark Legion. Finitevus became the chief medical advisor to Lien-Da, during which time he secretly captured and experimented on both the Brotherhood of Guardians and Moritori Rex, also disassembling Dimitri in order to learn the secrets of their Chaos Powers. While Dimitri remained with him, the Brotherhood and Moritori were condemned to the Twilight Zone, in a fitting punishment for the imprisonment the Brotherhood of Guardians had made the Legion suffer. Dr. Finitevus was still serving the Legion when Knuckles the Echidna, Sonic the Hedgehog, and the Chaotix arrived to liberate the island, and sneered at the people of Echidnaopolis and their belief in the prophecy of the Avatar. When Doctor Robotnik's agent, the overlander mercenary Hunter, arrived to steal the Master Emerald, Finitevus used the chaos with the overlander's attack to mask his actual disappearance. This allowed him to create the illusion that, like Constable Remington, Dr. Finitevus had been seemingly overpowered and killed by the Overlander's Chaos Spear. Instead, he eluded Hunter's senses and left his supposed allies behind, moving himself to a hidden stronghold. The good doctor later resurfaced, gathering an army of villainous criminals through the use of Warp Rings, among them the equally malicious Scourge the Hedgehog. He has also targeted Scourge's former partner Rouge the Bat, whom he caught sabotaging missiles in his secret base. The albino dispatched Scourge and Sleuth Dogg to recover a Warp Ring stolen from him by Rouge. This endeavor led to their kidnapping of Miles "Tails" Prower and Fiona Fox. Finitevus then aided Locke in keeping A.D.A.M. from summoning the Master Emerald,for he had plans of his own involving it, saving it from transportation to the Zone of Silence and subjugation to the will of Feist, a powerful being who used the Chaos Emerald's power to reshape the Zone of Silence. Dr. Finitevus later returned to Locke and set the Destructix on a pack of Dingoes who were attempting to kill some of the few surviving former residents of Echidnaopolis. He claimed to know the location of the missing Brotherhood of Guardians, and even gave Locke a Warp Ring so Locke could begin his true search. Locke left the Master Emerald and Angel Island in Dr. Finitevus's keep, making him a sort of temporary Guardian, unaware of Finitevus's real plan. Working together with Dimitri, he promised to restore the Grand Master(now reduced to a head in a floating glass orb as a result of Finitevus' own efforts to keep him alive) to his former glory as Enerjak. In addition, his plans for the future included reuniting the civil war-torn Dark Legion and crushing the Dingo regime. Fiona also joined Finitevus to be with Scourge after her relationship with him was discovered and they were forced to escape the Freedom Fighters through one of the doctor's Warp Rings. Dr. Finitevus was also the only individual not fooled by a sting operation initiated by Rouge, which involved her fake claims to having stolen the Master Emerald. Already in possession of the Emerald himself, Finitevus would not have believed such a claim even if he heard it. Shortly after Finitevus's finale stages for reviving Enerjak were begun, Dimitri fled from Finitevus and Scourge. Finitevus was unconcerned, adamant that Enerjak would be reborn, one way or another. Even when Fiona reported that Lien-Da and Remington had joined forces to stop him and that the Dingoes were launching an attack on the people of Echidnaopolis, Finitevus never wavered, and he soon succeeded: Enerjak was restored through none other than Knuckles, who proceeded to revert most of the Dark Legion to their natural state and decimate the Dingoes. Finitevus had selected Knuckles early on to become the new Enerjak, and had promised Lien-Da and the Frost Legion Grandmaster (none other than Kragok's son, Remington) that they would possess the power of the Master Emerald, which had been his original intention: however, Lien-Da proved uncontrollable and his efforts with Remington were dismissed when he realized that, of all of Edmund and Dimitri's descendants, Knuckles had the strongest connection to the Chaos Force. Finitevus waited until Knuckles had been brought to him by the Destructix before revealing that Robotnik's machinations had wiped out all but 10% of the Echidna population. Motivated by love for his people, Knuckles fell right into Finitevus' ploy and became Enerjak, activating a trap set by the diabolical albino Echidna that brainwashed him when he drew in the Emerald's power. When Sonic and Tails came to the Chaos Chamber looking for Knuckles, they were unaware that Finitevus remained with the Master Emerald. While Enerjak was arriving in New Mobotropolis, Locke had learned the truth of Finitevus's origins from Remington, now wholly organic once more thanks to Enerjak. Locke, unable to access the Master Emerald's power to dispel the hold Finitevus had over Knuckles, decided on one alternative: Knuckles had to be destroyed. He used the Warp Ring Finitevus had given him to pull Sonic and Julie-Su to Angel Island, and enlisted their efforts in recovering a weapon the brotherhood had made in the event that Enerjak ever returned. Prior to Sonic and Julie-Su's arrival on Angel Island courtesy of Locke, Finitevus found Scourge using the Master Emerald to charge a Warp Ring. Scourge claimed that it was a precaution against Enerjak failing, and the doctor took the opportunity to reveal the motives behind his plan to destroy Mobius and then remake it. After Sonic deliberately destroyed Locke's weapon, Enerjak arrived fresh from New Megaopolis, having lost a great deal of power after decimating Dr. Robotnik's forces. With Enerjak drained and requiring further power, Dr. Finitevus began a spell to recharge him, only to have Sonic interrupt. Sonic drained power from the Master Emerald himself, using it to become Super Sonic so he could face Enerjak. Finitevus was pleased at seeing Sonic use the power of the Master Emerald, assuming that he would be able to control the hedgehog thanks to his Chaos Hex. However, Sonic was unaffected by the hex. Finitevus adapted, though, figuring that with two Chaos-powered beings fighting each other, the destruction he desired would be achieved regardless. Watching the two super powers fight, Finitevus was confronted by Julie-Su and Archimedes. Amused by Julie's demands that he put an end to his scheme, he refused, and informed Julie-Su that he couldn't, because his spell on the Master Emerald had been keyed so that only a sacrifice of life could undo it. Julie-Su, Archimedes, and even the repentant Locke wished to be the ones to give up their lives, shocking Finitevus, who was unable to understand such self-sacrifice. Enraged by their foolishness, and unwilling to have his plans thwarted, he attacked. However, Archimedes the Fire-Ant teleported Finitevus away, allowing Locke to undo the spell and free Knuckles before the doctor could return. Beaten and enraged, Finitevus was then set upon by an infuriated Knuckles, who knocked him off the island's edge and demanded he get back up to face him for his crimes. Finitevus, having no desire to remain any longer than necessary, responded dismissively, and used a Warp Ring to escape. | ||
